Put a 1:1 ratio of water and sugar (for those of you already drinking, that's 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water) into a saucepan, add your favorite fruit, herb, or spice and bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves.

Reduce heat and let it simmer or mellow for 5-8 minutes. Pour through a sieve (as needed) and allow it to cool. That's it, Party people. It will last up to a week refrigerated. You can brush it on cakes to add flavor or pimp out your sparkling water
